Why I work with angels
Angels have been part of my healing path since my very first Reiki training. After years of injury and chronic pain sent me searching for healing, I found Reiki, and I trained in Angelic Reiki alongside Usui Reiki. Working with the angelic realm changed how I hold space for my clients and for myself.
Today, the archangels are a steady, loving presence in my Angel Energy Reiki sessions, classes and circles. They are always available, and all we need to do is ask.
You don't need to follow a particular faith to connect with them. My work is open to all spiritual beliefs. This guide shares the archangels I work with, what each one can help with, and the colors, flowers, scents and crystals that can help you feel their energy.
About Suzanne
Suzanne Holmes is a Reiki Master and the founder of Healing Home Reiki in DFW, Texas. She holds a Master Angelic Reiki Professional Practitioner Certificate with Christine Core, Head of Angelic Reiki in England, and trained in Angelic Reiki I–IV and Usui Reiki with Lynn Blos. She completed her Master Usui Reiki training with Staci Hill in Fort Worth. Suzanne sees clients in person and on Zoom, and teaches classes and circles across Dallas–Fort Worth.
What are archangels?
Archangels are the leading angels named across mystical Christianity, Jewish mysticism and many modern spiritual traditions. Each one carries a particular kind of help, such as protection, healing, clear communication or peace after a loss.
Many traditions teach that your guardian angel stays with you personally, while the archangels can be with anyone who calls on them, anywhere, at the same time. You can ask for help as often as you like.

1. Archangel Michael
Protection & Courage
Michael is the protector and spiritual warrior. He cuts cords of negative energy and guides souls to heaven.

2. Archangel Gabriel
Communication & Divine Messages
Gabriel is the messenger of God. Gabriel guides clear, authentic expression and helps us through life transitions.

3. Archangel Raphael
Healing & Restoration
Raphael is the guardian of physical and spiritual healing, and helps with recovery and miracles.

11. Archangel Azrael
Transition, Compassionate Passage & Energy Clearing
Azrael supports souls in transition, comforts people who are grieving, and helps with endings and spiritual transformation.
Call on him for – Grief support, releasing attachments, comfort for the dying and bereaved, and help clearing energy for energy healers
Symbols – The Book of Life, soft ivory or pale gold light, gently flowing water. Some people sense him as a dark light that moves easily to and from the other side.

From my practice: At the end of my Angel Energy Reiki sessions, I often feel Azrael arrive to carry away everything we've cleared. It's as if he gathers up the heavy, dark residue and flies it away. To me, he feels like a dark, swift, flying presence. I sometimes wonder if the image of the grim reaper was first inspired by him, traveling between worlds.
How to call on an angel
Find a quiet moment. Sit comfortably and take three slow breaths into your belly.
Choose your archangel. Pick the one whose qualities match what you need. If you have them, light a candle in their color or hold one of their crystals.
Ask by name, simply and sincerely. For example: "Archangel Michael, please surround me with your protection and give me courage today."
Pause and receive. You might notice warmth, tingling, a color, a sense of calm, or a gentle thought. There's no wrong way to feel it.
Say thank you. Gratitude closes your practice and invites more support.
Signs from your angels
Angels often answer in quiet ways. Here are some signs people notice:
Finding a feather in an unexpected place
Seeing repeating numbers, like 111 or 444
Sudden warmth, tingles or a sense of being held
A song, word or image that keeps showing up
A gentle feeling that you aren't alone
Seeing rays of colors when you close your eyes
When you notice a sign, pause and say thank you.

Do I need to be religious to work with angels?
No. Archangels appear in mystical Christianity, Jewish mysticism and many modern spiritual paths. My sessions, classes and circles are open to all beliefs.
Can I call on more than one archangel?
Yes. For example, you might ask Michael for protection and Raphael for healing at the same time.
What is Angel Energy Reiki?
It's Reiki energy healing that works with the angelic realm where the healer is a channel. I'm trained and certified as a Master Angelic Reiki practitioner, and I bring the angels into sessions, classes and trainings.
Does working with angels replace medical care?
No. Energy work and angel practices are a gentle complement to care from your doctor or therapist, not a replacement for it.
