What is reiki?
Reiki is a healing technique based on the principle that the therapist can channel energy into the patient by means of touch, to activate the natural healing processes of the patient's body and restore physical and emotional well-being. Reiki is an ancient technique used for stress reduction and relaxation and has been shown to have several benefits for both physical and mental health. It is a gentle, non-invasive therapy that involves the practitioner gently placing their hands on or near the body.
Reiki therapy is based on an Eastern belief that vital energy flows through your body. "Life force energy" flows through us and all living beings. If one's "life force energy" is low, stuck or unbalanced, then we are more likely to experience illness or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of feeling happy and healthy. The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "Divine Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy."
A Reiki Practitioner uses gentle touch – or places their hands just above your body – to help guide this energy in a way that leads to balance and healing. A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing.

The intention of my practice
My intention is twofold: 1) to offer healing presence to you and 2) for you to experience feelings of wholeness and peace during our session, which grow over time.
I offer Reiki to anyone wanting to feel at home in their body and in their life again due to stress, anxiety, or pain - or, if you simply want to experience deep relaxation amidst a busy life. I love channeling beautiful Reiki energy that feels positive and affirming.
Reiki sessions may bring insights, to both client and practitioner, through intuitive messages. These messages help us come back to our wisest, most aligned (and even our most light and playful!) selves.
In conjunction with channeling Reiki energy to you, it's very important to me to make sure my clients are able to tap into a state of deep relaxation. A deep relaxation response activates the parasympathetic nervous system, the state of our nervous system that brings about healing and feelings of well-being- basically turning off the stress response. I offer meditations during the session to help you drop into a relaxation response in your nervous system, which feels lovely, floaty yet grounding, and relaxing.
As taught in Reiki training, we simply channel Reiki energy, and it knows where to go for the highest good. It is my intention to see where the session takes us, and embrace any inspired insights we discover along the way.
What to expect in Your session
Your session is a safe space for you and we co-create the experience together. We address what is most important to you, and anything that comes up in the session. We see the state of your energy field- what you are experiencing in life is expressed in your energy body. We balance and clear the energy, and channel lovely Reiki energy to you, supported by a deep relaxation practice. We see if we are guided to any intuitive messages. I am not a psychotherapist or medical provider, so, if anything comes out in our session outside the scope of my practice, I will recommend referral to the appropriate provider.
In our 50 minutes together:
- We discuss what brings you to this Reiki session and what you'd like to address. (10 minutes)
- You lie down, fully clothed, for a guided meditation and Reiki session. We will use props and pillows for comfort. (30 minutes)
- We close the session by discussing how you feel, and I will share what came up in the energy work during the session. (10 minutes)
